Waheguru

Waheguru (Punjabi: ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, translit. vāhigurū) is a word that refers to God in Sikhism.

The word vāhigurū is traditionally explained as being composed of vāh "wondrous", gu "darkness", and ru "light", together said to carry the meaning, "The wondrous Lord who takes the person from the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge".

The word Waheguru is also used in Sikhism as a mantra, called gurumantra or gur mantar.
