Virididentex acromegalus is a fish of the genus Virididentex being its only species of the Sparidae family founded in the waters of Cape Verde, dominant in the shallow portions. The species are also endemic and is listed as least concern by the IUCN.

The genus name is Latin for viridious teeth and the species name is Greek for so large, due to its size measuring up to 52 cm in length.[2]

They live in coral reefs and rocky bottoms between 40 and 60 meters of deep water[2]
