Virgule
Virgule (from Latin virgula, "twig") may refer to either of two typographic symbols:
- the slash ⟨/⟩, particularly when used to mark line breaks in quoted literature
- the vertical bar ⟨|⟩, particularly when used to mark metrical feet in poetry
- the slash is used in music to indicate secondary functions, to indicate chord bass notes (slash chord), and to indicate continued rhythm
- "Virgule" is also the French and Portuguese name for the comma ( , )
