“Goygol Wine Plant” is an Azerbaijani winery with history of 150 years. Established in 1860, the Plant was built by German refugees – Shwabs, who founded Yelenendorf Settlement by settling down an area in Elizabethpol province, in Goygol Region. In 1862 there was established «Brothers Forrer» Joint-Stock company that was directed by sons Ch. Forrer – Gottlob, Friedrich, Heinrich and Christofor. At the same time there was established «Trade house of Brothers Hummel» joint-stock company that was directed by Ch. Hummel sons – Jacob, Albert, George and Gottlieb. Board of the both families was located in Elenendorf, offices and representation were in Ganja, Tbilisi, Baku, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kiev, Odessa, Tomsk, Batumi. The Yelenendorf Wines manufactured by the winery distilleries established by Christopher Forer and Christian Gummel were being exported to Germany and the Netherlands. On August 8, 1922 there was established cooperative «Concordia» in base of wine factory that became the largest producer of wine, cognac and vodka in Transcaucasus. The company was producing "Kagor", "Old Port", "White table wine", "Red table wine", "Xeres wines", "Garangush", "Extra" cognacs, liqueurs and champagnes. For example during 1924-1925 branches of cooperative «Concordia» registered 1350397 buckets of wine. The winery operating under the title of “Konkordiya” in the Soviet period had 183 shops in the territory of the country. In the 1980s, the Plant was in the third place for the volume of manufactured brandies and wines in the Soviet Union. Our products manufactured in the mentioned years have won prizes of reputable competitions held in various European countries. During Soviet years the enterprise was called «Khanlar Agroindustry» which was the biggest winemaking manufacture in Azerbaijan. In terms of volume of matured cognac spirit the combine took the third place in the Soviet Union. By 1985 one-time capacity of oak barrel for Cognac endurance made 1,000,000 deciliter, the enameled tanks 1 200 000 deciliter, without considering reinforced and not enameled capacities.


Now «Goygol Wine Plant» has 525 hectares of the vineyards transplanted in 2006-2008 where grow native and European high-quality selection variety of grapes. Transplants of European grapes grafted on phylloxera steady stocks SO4 and 5ВВ, were received from the leading company of France «GONTARD FRERESPEPINIERES VITICOLES» and Italian «VIVAI MARCYI». At the present time the red grapes are raising on vineyards belonging the factory: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sira, Pino-Naur, Prima, Saperavi, Mattress, Shirvanshahi; white grapes: Chaurdenе, Sauvignon, Rkasiteli, Uni-Blan, Grenash white, the Bayan-Shirey, Sultani. It is going to extend the areas under vineyards up to 1500 hectares in the nearest future. In our plant receiving and grapes processing department function has four breakers-stemming machine «DPN25» with productivity 25-30 ton/hr; four alburn pumps integrated under a breaker-stemming machine; four batchers of grapes acceptance and its handling to stemming machine; four batchers of comb gathering and its aspirations; four modern Vacuum membranous press model «VS150» that functions as a strainer and the press excluding alburn repu lping, with productivity 35-40 ton/hr. Two refrigerating machineries for cooling of a mash and temperature regulation of fermentation in tanks work in this shop. In the shop of primary processing of wine installed 88 modern, vertical tanks from stainless steel with a capacity of 3000 decalitre for each piece. These tanks are supplied with automation system of temperature control of fermentation in tanks through shirts, mixing and unloading system during wine production under red wine technology. In the shop of secondary processing of wine there is a camera and installation for cold processing of wine, pasteurizing plant and the equipment for fining. As a technologic unit there are wine-cellars at the factory where collection champagne, vintage wines and madeira is made and stored. This unique construction on Caucasus, built in the middle of the eighteenth century is at depth about 15 metres, has the overall length of 800 metres and occupy the space about 6000 square metres. There are glass enameled steel tanks at the factory, which one-time capacity makes 1 200 000 decalitre. For endurance of cognac spirit, vintage wines, madeira, ports and cahors wine the factory has a large quantity of wooden oak drums which total amount makes around 1 000 000 decalitre.
