The Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference (UMLC) is a conference in the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA). The UMLC incorporates teams in Iowa, Minnesota, and North Dakota, divided into two divisions, Division I and Division II.[1] Iowa State is currently the only Division I team. Division II is made up of Minnesota State Mankato, University of Minnesota-Duluth, North Dakota State, St. Cloud State, Saint John's, and St. Thomas. It usually has several teams ranked nationally in the top ten.

College teams in Minnesota that were playing a loose schedule of tournament weekends decided in 1992 to organize into a league that had a specific schedule and end of the season tournament. In 2000, the UMLC was accepted into the US Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates, which later became the MCLA in 2006.[2] Until 2011, the conference was known as the Upper Midwest Lacrosse League.
