The Ricotta Eaters

The Ricotta Eaters is a c.1580 oil on canvas painting by Vincenzo Campi, showing four figures eating a round ricotta. The artist himself entitled it Buffonaria, which links its four figures to Commedia dell'arte characters, with the artist himself shown in the costume of Pantalone. The work is now in the Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon, which was given it by Jacques Bernard in 1875.
