The Finding of Moses (Veronese)

The Prado variant

The Finding of Moses is the title of a series of paintings by Paolo Veronese. There are eight variants of the painting on the theme of finding of Moses by him and his studio. The 1560-1575 painting is in the Museo del Prado in Madrid.

The Lyon variant

One variant painted c.1581 is now in the Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon. It is the smallest (119 by 115 cm) of eight works by him and his studio showing the finding of Moses - art historians often consider it to be the preparatory sketch for the variant in the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden (178 by 277 cm).
