The D.A.'s Man is an American television crime drama, produced by Jack Webb, that aired on NBC from January 3, 1959 to August 29, 1959.[1]

It was loosely based on the career of Harold R. Danforth, who, in 1935, was hired as an investigator for the NYC-wide "Special Rackets Prosecutor's Office" by Chief Prosecutor Thomas E. Dewey, later transferring to the Manhattan DA's Office when Dewey was elected to that post. He continued to serve as a DA's Investigator, under both Dewey and his successor, Frank S. Hogan, until 1951, when he accepted a position as Chief Criminal Investgator for the New York State Department of Labor. After leaving that position, he opened his own private detective agency.

In collaboration with journalist James D. Horan, of the New York Journal-American, Danforth wrote an autobiographical account of his law enforcement career, The DA's Man (Crown, 1957), which won the Edgar Award for Best Fact-Crime Book awarded by the Mystery Writers of America. When the TV series based on the book aired, Danforth served as the program's police technical advisor, while Horan served as an associate producer and also contributed several scripts to the series.
