Thomas Rhys Thomas (born 23 April 1982 in Abercynon, Wales) is a former Wales International rugby player. Rhys started his rugby playing career at Abercynon in South Wales and was the youngest youth player to ever play first team rugby. He won a scholarship to play rugby for Neath College alongside studying for his a-level qualifications. Thomas was then offered a place at UWIC to study sport science where he also represented the university team. During his final season his team won the British University’s Championship title. Shortly afterwards Thomas made a try-scoring debut for the Cardiff Blues against Celtic Warriors on 27 December 2003. He made his debut for Wales against the USA in 2005 and following this Thomas won 27 international caps. He has made over 180 appearances for Cardiff blues rugby where he also won the Amlin challenge Cup against Toulon. Thomas has made in excess of 300 regional rugby starts in his career. He has played over 30 games for London wasps in the English premiership and over 100 for the Gwent Dragons. Thomas has now turned his hand to coaching where he is currently a specialist contact area coach at the Gwent Dragons. <ref>[http://www.cardiffblues.com/3718_3720.php?player=4847&includeref=dynamic Player Profile – Cardiff
