Pirivena
A pirivena (plural: piriven) is a monastic college (similar to a seminary) for the education of Buddhist priests in Sri Lanka. These have also been the centers of secondary and higher education in ancient times for lay people. As of 2018, 753 Piriven [1] have been founded and maintained by the Ministry of Education. Young priests undergo training at these pirivenas prior to their Ordination.

- Parama Dhamma Chethiya Pirivena is a Pirivena in Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia, established by Ven. Walane Sri Siddhartha Maha Thera in 1841.[2]
- Sunethradevi Pirivena is a 600yr-old Pirivena in Pepiliyana,[3] constructed by King Parakramabahu VI of the Kingdom of Kotte in honour of his mother, Queen Sunethradevi.[4]
