Stuart Douglas Boland "Bud" Smith (born May 14, 1946)[1] is a lawyer, businessman and former politician in British Columbia. He represented Kamloops in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1986 to 1991 as a Social Credit member, serving alongside Claude Richmond in a dual-member district.

Smith was born in Kamloops, British Columbia,[2] the son of John Alan Ivan Smith Boland Smith and Anne Margaret Bain.[1][3] In 1970, he received his B.A. from the University of Victoria, and in 1974, he received his L.L.B. from the University of British Columbia.[4] In 1972, he married Daphne Marguerite Minnes.[1] He served in the provincial cabinet as Attorney General and as Minister of Regional Economic Development. Smith was a member of the board of directors for the Royal British Columbia Museum.[3] He ran for the leadership of the provincial Social Credit party in 1986.[5]

In 1990, Smith was forced to resign as attorney general after taped phone conversations were leaked to the press.[5]
