Stella Kyriakidou (Greek: Στέλλα Κυριακίδου; born 10 March 1956), is a Cypriot psychologist and politician, first national and third women President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.[1]

Biography

Born in Nicosia, Kyriakides got a degree in Psychology at the University of Reading and a master's degree Manchester, working in the Ministry of Health between 1976 and 2006 in the departament of Child and Adolescent psychiatry[2]. She ws elected deputy in the 2006 elections, representing Nicosia District for the conservative Democratic Rally[3], party she is vice-president since 2013[4]. In 1999 was appointed president of the First Breast Cancer Movement in Cyprus and President of the National Committee on Cancer Strategy of the Council in 2016.[5][6]

She is the chairperson of the delegation of Cyprus to the Parliamentary Assembly since 2012 and president of the Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Regional Development since 2016 until January 2018. After the resignation of the Spanish Pedro Agramunt, she run for the Presidency of the PACE, winning the voting in the third round against the Lithuanian Emanuelis Zingeris.[7][8]
