Standing Committee of European Doctors

The Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) is a medical organization representing all medical doctors in the European Union. The abbreviation comes from the original French name for the committee, Comité Permanent des Médecins Européens. CPME is composed of 33 member organizations, each of which is the most representative national medical organisation of a European Union/ European Economic Area country.

Goals

The aim of CPME is to "promote the highest standards of medical training and medical practice in order to achieve the highest quality of health care for all citizens of Europe". CPME is also concerned with the promotion of public health, the relationship between patients and doctors and the free movement of doctors within the European Union .

Organization

The headquarters of CPME are situated in Brussels, Belgium. The CPME works in different sectors of the health policy:
