St John's College Boat Club (SJCBC) is the rowing club of St John's College, Durham University, England. It was founded in 1910 and is one of the oldest boat clubs in Durham.

Structure

The club is entirely run by students and attracts most of its members from St John's College – though anyone can join with the permission of the captain.

The club has around 80 active members. It is run by the executive committee, elected at the Club AGM in June. These are Captain of Boats, Vice Captain (Men's), Vice Captain (Women's), Head Coxes, Secretary, Treasurer, Social Secretary, and Boatman.[3] The club's alumni association, the Regatta Blue Club, maintains a strong link between past and present students who meet together for major events.[4]

Competition

The club has had a number of successes in recent years, on a local and regional level including winning the DCR Senate Cup and the DCR Women's Novice Cup in 16/17 season. The Club also had numerous wins in Hexham, Durham City, and York Regattas.[5]

The Club competes mainly on the North Eastern Rowing circuit, though has entered boats into BUCS, the Head of the River Race (HoRR), Women's Head of the River Race (WeHorr), and the Boston Rowing Marathon.

Club colours

The club blades are Regatta Blue, it being one of the colors of St. Johns College.

The club racing kit is defined for all-in-ones as "navy blue with white and red side stripes".

The club blazer can be worn by any long-serving member and is "white with blue trim". This can be worn at all club socials and some college events including formal dinners. St Johns College JCR awards "Colours" on the recommendation of the SJCBC Colours Committee.
