Spolas

A spolas is a thin armour worn by the hypaspists in Ancient Greek battle, often made from linen or leather. It can also be a thickly woven tunic and is similar to a linothorax. The use of the spolas lightened a hoplite's standard load, in comparison to the standard metal thorax/cuirass.
