The USC Upstate Spartans are the seventeen sports teams representing the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina in intercollegiate athletics. The Spartans compete in the NCAA Division I and are members of the Big South Conference since 2018.
On November 15, 2017, it was announced that USC-Upstate would be leaving the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Spartans will join the Big South Conference effective July 1, 2018. The move was pending a December 19 vote by the University of South Carolina Board of Trustees, according to news reports.[2]
