Song Jin-Woo (Hangul: 송진우, Hanja: 宋津宇) (born February 16, 1966 in Jeungpyeong, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea) is a retired KBO League left-handed pitcher for the Hanwha Eagles. He also competed for South Korea in the 2000 Summer Olympics on the team that won the bronze medal.

Song played in the KBO for 21 years since 1989. He currently holds several pitching records for the KBO, including his 210 wins, 2048 strikeouts, and 3003 innings pitched.[1][2]

Song was the first pitcher in the KBO to strike out over 2000 batters. He accomplished this feat on June 6, 2008 at his home field of Daejeon Baseball Stadium against the Woori Heroes. He recorded the strikeout in the bottom of the 8th inning with 2 outs, ringing up Song Ji-Man.

Song Jin-Woo's number 21 was retired by the Hanwha Eagles in 2009.

Coaching life

The atmosphere of the Hanwha Eagles mound has changed. Hanwha became the most "team with a pitcher entry that did not change" among the 10 clubs. Song Jin-woo (52), the pitching coach of Hanhwa, said, "Changing the entry is the most sensitive issue between coaches and players." In Hanwha's stronger mound, Song Jin-woo coach 's personalized' prescription 'played a big role. Foreign pitcher Keebass Samson had difficulty in the early stages of the season, but he improved his position as well as his arrest while correcting his position. He told Jason Wheeler to fix the changeup. Song coach also emphasized 'communication'. [3]
