The Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SBRAS) was established by Mikhail Lavrentyev, Sergei Sobolev and Sergey Khristianovich in 1957 as the Siberian section of the Russian Academy of Sciences. SRBAS was established alongside the Novosibirsk State University.
