Sheila

Sheila (alternatively spelled Shelagh and Sheelagh) is a common feminine given name, derived from the Irish name Síle, which is believed to be a Gaelic form of Cecilia. The name Sheila is a Latin baby name. In Latin the meaning of the name Sheila is: From the Latin Caelia, which is a feminine form of the Roman clan name Caelius, meaning heavenly, or of the heaven.

It is also encountered as an alternative spelling of the unrelated Indian feminine name Sheela, which is of Sanskrit origin.
