Seven sisters (studios)
The seven sisters of the Hollywood film industry were the major movie studios of the period between the early 1980s, when The Walt Disney Studios emerged as a major, and 2005, when MGM was acquired by a consortium including Sony Pictures Entertainment. The seven sisters were:
- Columbia Pictures — a division of Sony
- Disney — a division of The Walt Disney Company
- 20th Century Fox — a division of 21st Century Fox
- Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer — a subsidiary of MGM Holdings
- Paramount Pictures — a subsidiary of Viacom
- Universal Pictures — a subsidiary of Comcast
- Warner Bros. — a subsidiary of AT&T
