Second Doctor comic stories

The Second Doctor comic stories is a range of offscreen adventures featuring the second incarnation of the Doctor, the protagonist of the hit sc-fi BBC One series, Doctor Who. These comics from the late sixties were the first Doctor Who TV Comics to be printed in colour.

History

When the first doctor regenerated into the second in 1966, TV Comic changed the face of the doctor in the comics to suite the change in the show's history, although kept the same companions, the doctor's grandchildren like in the TV series, John and Gillian. They were soon replaced with Jamie McCrimmon, to better match with the TV series of Doctor Who.

When the War Games aired on the BBC and there was an absence in Doctor Who episodes broadcast, TV Comic continued to print comics featuring the second doctor and tied this into the series with the story line of when the second doctor was captured by the Time Lords in the end of the War Games and was put on trial for meddling in the affairs of other races and was forced to regenerate, he escaped with the help of the CIA (Celestial Intervention Agency) and worked with them for a while, until he was forced to return to Earth, where furthermore he hid from the Time Lords, fighting monsters until they sent what appeared to be scarecrows working for the Time Lords to force the second doctor to regenerate into the third. This story line became known as the Doctor Who Season 6B.

The second doctor has also starred in a few modern printed comics, including DW Magazine "Land Of The Blind", DW Magazine Special "Bringer Of Darkness" and IDW "The Forgotten".
