Sean O'Neill (born 20 January 1981) is Northern Irish former professional snooker player. After winning every major snooker tournament in Northern Ireland, O’Neill retired at the age of 23 and turned himself into an entrepreneur, running a number of successful businesses from property management, high street retails, to life-coaching.

Early years

Sean O’Neill was born in Daisy Hill in Newry, Northern Ireland. The only son of businessman Rory O’Neill and Rosemary Rooney. He was raised on a family farm by his grandmother.

At the age of 11, O’Neill entered his first business by selling fireworks. From an initial capital of £40, O’Neill successfully made £2000 in the first 2 months. He continued growing his business and made a fortune.

O’Neill's love of snooker started to develop after his father bought him his first snooker table at the age of 4.

At the age of 16, his interest shifted into professional snooker, becoming one of the most well-known amateur snooker player in the world, winning major junior tournaments both domestic, regional, and worldwide.

Career

O'Neill started his snooker career in 1995 when he became the Northern Ireland Under 14 Champion, which led to his victories in the Northern Ireland Under 16 Championship, Under 17 Championship and the Northern Ireland Under 19 Championship (3 consecutive years).

O’Neill continued his successful road to championship by playing competitive snooker in the European Championship in 1998, where he came second in the 1998 European Under 19 Championship. He entered qualifying for the World Championship over the next five years, reaching the Quarter Finals in the 1999 IBSF World Championship and the 1999 IBSF World Under 21. In 2000, he was the last 16 in the IBSF World Championship.

O’Neill continued to prosper in 2001, where he won 4 competitions: Fountain Classic Ranking; Northern Ireland Under 21 Championship; Northern Ireland Senior Championship; and Pontins Autumn Champion; all in the same year. He then went on to win his sixth Northern Ireland Under 21 Championship, in the following year.

O'Neill won every junior and senior title available in Northern Ireland, and with a Republic of Ireland passport, he was accepted in the RIBSA events. He responded by winning the sixth Irish ranking event in 2003. His performances were sufficient for O'Neill to turn professional for the 2004/2005 season.

Post-retirement from Snooker

After his decision to return to the business world, O’Neill launched Money Tree Properties in 2005. His problem-solver character and his phenomenal skill to overcome complex challenges in business have led to almost 15 years of success in managing several businesses in the United Kingdom.

He specialises in fundamental analysis and investing, with experience in asset allocation, investment strategy, facilities management, and property management.

Personal Life

Sean O’Neill currently resides in Liverpool, England. His hobby includes collecting supercars, owning McLaren 650s Can Am and Porsche GT2.
