Salsk Art Museum

The Salsk Museum named after the People's Artist VK Nechitailo is an art museum founded in Salsk in 1977. The museum's collection includes 3,030 exhibits. The exhibition halls have an area of 504 square meters.

History

On October 13, 1977, the city of Salsk was given a collection of modern fine arts, by the decision of the Secretariat of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR,. It was composed of 72 works of painting, 26 graphics and 47 sculptures. The transfer of works of art occurred in connection with the opening in Salsk of an art gallery. Vasily Kirillovich Nechitailo, People's Artist of the RSFSR, actively supported and personally participated in the formation of the first collection of Salsk (formerly the village of Vorontsovo-Nikolayevsky).

The Executive Committee of the Salsk Council of People's Deputies to open a national art gallery in the city, and ordered the director of the VA Shekhovtsov Children's Art School, to form an exposition from the works transferred by the Union of Artists of the RSFSR, He was also charged with running a gallery on a voluntary basis.

In January 12, 1978, the art gallery was opened to visitors. In 1978, the picture gallery became a branch of the Rostov Museum of Fine Arts. At the end of the year, the states of the museum were approved, and in 1979 the picture gallery becomes a state institution.

After the death of VK Nechitailo, on October 27, 1980, the Rostov Regional Council of People's Deputies, on the basis of the resolution of the Salsk Executive Committee No. 183 of 06.05.1981 "On perpetuating the memory of VK Nechitailo," decides to petition the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR for an appropriation for the Salsk City Art Gallery named after V. K. Nechitailo. The decision of the Council of Ministers adopted such a decision. The Gallery has become a regional institution. In 2002, the Salsk Picture Gallery was renamed the State Regional Cultural Institution "Salsk Museum named after the People's Artist VK Nechitailo".[1]

Collections

The museum contains works of painting, graphics, sculpture and decorative and applied art. Attention visitors are offered works of outstanding masters of Soviet art. The first decades of the twentieth century in the museum's funds are represented by the works of the oldest Russian painters LV Turzhansky, NM Chernyshev and PA Radimov. The middle and third quarter of the last century - works of People's Artists of the USSR VP Efanov, B. F. Domashnikov, B. S. Ugarov, V. A. Serov, J. P. Kugach, B. V. Shcherbakova, O.N. Komova; People's Artists of the RSFSR VK Nechitailo, MV Savchenkova, AI Laktionov, PP Ossovsky, DK Mochalsky; Honored artists of the RSFSR AS Kulagin, AV Timofeev, VN Lemeshev, AG Lysenko, Pyotr Konchalovsky, Arkady Plastov and others.[1]

The paintings of these authors form the basis of the permanent exposition of the museum. During the time of work, museum collections and thematic exhibitions have been created: "Our steppe country", "My sadness is light ...", "Images of a woman", "Artists talk about war", "Ecology and art".

A special value for the museum is the collection of works by VK Nechitailo, which consists of paintings and graphic works by the artist. In the permanent memorial exhibition of the artist there are objects of a ware fund, donated by the widow of the artist, MV Savchenkova. Personal things from a Moscow workshop tell us about the artist's life and hobbies.[1]

The collection thus formed became the beginning of the own funds of the Salsk Picture Gallery.

The first collection included works by such masters of painting, graphics and sculpture as: Vasily Yefanov, Boris Ugarov, Oleg Komov, V.K. Nechitailo, V.G. Tsyplakov, P. P Ossovsky, D. K. Mochalsky, A. G. Lysenko, M. V. Savchenkova, V. S. Sorokin, Yu. I. Skorikov. and others.
