SMC University provides the following short courses, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs in the field of business and follows a distance learning model.[7]

Inter-university degree programs

SMC University and Central University of Nicaragua provide the following inter-university degree programs:

Accreditation

Cantonal registration and federal accreditation

SMC University's degrees are registered in the Swiss Canton of Zug.[20] Prior to 2015 the Swiss University Conference did not list SMC University among the 'Recognised or Accredited Swiss Higher Education Institutions', meaning that SMC University being a private higher education institution, was not accredited as one of Switzerland's public universities by the OAQ.[21]

Diplomas can be awarded by private higher education institutions in Switzerland as long as they observe the legal requirements of their cantons.[22]

International accreditation

SMC University's associate, master's and doctorate programs have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) since 2007.[23][24] SMC University's business programs are listed as accredited in CHEA's Database of Programs Accredited by Recognized U.S. Accrediting Organizations.[25]

In 2016 the National Accreditation Board of Ghana (NAB) directed SMC University to desist from admitting new Ghanaian students until the institution had complied with specified directions. [26] The NAB, however, has extended the SMC University's registration for three years to cover students already enrolled at the institution. The NAB stated that those who have already graduated from SMC University programmes possess valid credentials.

SMC University was previously a member of the European Council for Business Education (ECBE) and was previously accredited by ECBE, however, recently SMC University chose not to renew their accreditation with this agency.[27]
