History
S. Anselm's Preparatory School is a preparatory school in Bakewell, Derbyshire, founded in 1888.[2] S. Anselm's sits in 18 acres (73,000 m2) of the Peak National Park, overlooking the market town of Bakewell. S.Anselm's School was founded by William Storrs Fox in 1888 on its present site. It was named for Anselm, an Italian monk and philosopher who became the Archbishop of Canterbury at the start of the 12th century.
For the first ninety years or so the school was for boys only. Girls joined the school for the first time in 1977.
Old Anselmians
All former pupils become Old Anselmians. The Old Anselmian's portal, launched in 2017, provides an online space for Old Anselmians to stay in touch with each other, receive news from school and network.
