Russian (solitaire)

Russian is a difficult solitaire game using 1 deck of playing cards, but there is not a deck or stock (like Yukon).

Russian (solitaire) Layout

Layout

  • There are 7 rows of Tableau stacks.
  • There are 4 Foundations that build up in suit.

Rules

UNLIKE Yukon, the Tableau stacks build down in suit. Any faced up cards can be moved, even if there are other cards on top of those cards. Only a King can move to an empty space. The game is won when all cards have been moved to the Foundation building up in suit from Ace to King.

Variations

Yukon is very similar to Russian Solitaire, except the Tableau stacks build down in suit in Russian Solitaire.

Strategy

  • Expose the face down cards as soon as possible, so you can start moving cards around.
  • Moving the Aces to the Foundations as soon as possible is critical to gameplay.
