1994 was the debuting year of Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest at its second attempt, having previously failed to qualify from the semi-final stage of the Eurovision Song Contest 1993. Televiziunea Română (TVR) held a national final to select the second Romanian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest held in Dublin, Ireland. National final was won by Dan Bittman, with the song Dincolo de nori, music and lyrics by Antonio Furtuna & Dan Bittman.

National final

The National final took place in Bucharest, on March 20, 1994, and was hosted by Gabriela Crista. There were 16 songs, 2 sung by Mona Rosoga, 2 by Monica Anghel and 2 by Luminiţa Anghel (one with Gabriel Cotabiţă). The winning song was chosen by 5 regional juries. Only the winner was announced.

At Eurovision

Dan Bittman performed 11th on the night of the contest, following Estonia and preceding Malta. He received 14 points, and finished on 21st place out of 25. Because of then relegation rule, Romania missed the 1995 contest.
