The Geely Boyue is a compact crossover SUV produced by Chinese automaker Geely. Originally planned to be launched as part of the Emgrand series during development, the Boyue was launched as an independent product under the Geely brand in 26 March 2016.[1][2] In the South American market, this SUV is offered under the name Geely Emgrand X7 Sport, being integrated into the Geely Emgrand product subdivision.[3] The Boyue was designed by a team led by Peter Horbury, the vehicle’s exterior design combines traditional Chinese cultural elements with modern languages of fashion. Since its launch, the Boyue has received much attention in the Chinese automobile market.

Proton X70
The Proton X70 is a right hand drive version of the Geely Boyue with minor cosmetic differences.
Pre-launch
On 24 May 2017, PROTON Holdings parent company DRB-HICOM announced plans to sell a 49.9% stake in Proton to Zhejiang Geely Automobile Holdings. Alongside the sale of stake, it was announced that Proton's first SUV would be based of the Geely Boyue. [4][5]
In April 2018, Proton opened up an online poll to the public to vote on the name. Participants could choose between: PX7, X7, X70 and X700 or voice in their own input.[6] Latter that month during initial details were shared.[7]
In June 2018, it was revealed that initial units were going to be fully imported from China with latter models being locally assembled at Proton's plant.[8]
In September 2018, during a closed-door viewing, further details were shared and the name, Proton X70 was unveiled.[9]
In October 2018, again during a closed-door viewing, more details were shared. The highlight of the event was the 'GKUI' headunit.[10]
