PreSense, India's first national Ezine, is published by Prime Point Foundation since 2006 every month.

Background

An ezine is a periodic publication distributed by email or posted on a website. Ezines are typically tightly focused on a subject area. The Inaugural issue of PreSense was launched during March 2006 by Y. S. Rajan, Principal adviser to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and an eminent Indian scientist.[1]

First 60 editions

PreSense was started as a monthly Corporate ezine (e-Magazine) to be published on the last day of every month, focussing on one unique corporate theme every month. Every issue was Guest Edited by one eminent person having expertise in the 'theme of the month'. Every issue carried Guest Editorial, Interviews from eminent people and few other expert views on the related theme. The lead article / interview was integrated with podcast in every issue. Till Feb 2011, 60 such editions were published in this format, focussing on one unique theme every month.

Beyond 60th edition

After 61st edition, the ezine started publishing multiple themes in every issue, to spread the positive vibration. 100th Edition is Digest containing the selected popular articles published in the earlier editions. Print and virtual editions of 100th edition titled "PreSense100 - A Collector's Digest" was launched at Chennai on 27 June 2015. [2] Till May 2018, 135 editions have been published.

The Second edition of PreSense100 titled 'PreSense100+' covering select articles up to 110th edition was released on 11th June 2016 at Indian Institute of Technology Madras during Sansad Ratna Award Function. [3]

The third edition of Collector's Digest titled PreSense130 containing select articles up to 130 editions of PreSense was released on 28th April 2018 at Chennai by T.S.Krishnamurthy, Former Chief Election Commissioner of India. [4] [5]

All the monthly issues of Ezine are in pdf format with less than 1 MB in file size. Every month the ezine is distributed free.

Initiatives

Jointly with Prime Point Foundation, this ezine has started four initiatives viz. (1) Education Loan Task Force (ELTF) [6], (2) Sansad Ratna Award [7], (3) Digital Journalists Association of India (DiJAI) [8] and (4) Digital Security Association of India (DiSAI) [9].

Editorial board

Krishnaswamy Srinivasan, founder and chairman of Prime Point Foundation and a senior communication professional, Digital Journalist and Social worker, is the Publisher and Managing Editor of this ezine. Susan Koshy, a Communication professional, Digital Journalist and former General Manager of Industrial Development Bank of India is the Editor-in-Chief of this ezine. Many professionals across the globe are in the Editorial Board.

Cartoon Character 'Prince'

The ezine introduced cartoons from July 2008 issue. Every month, the Cartoon character PRince created by Triambak Sharma used to convey messages. This cartoon character PRince was launched by Former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam in July 2008.[10] This cartoon character PRince is more popular among the readers. Till May 2018, 127 Prince cartoons have been published.
