Pomponianus

Roman senator Tascius Pomponianus Publius was at Stabiae during the Eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79, he was stuck to the shore because he was not favoured by the wind, so was greeted by Pliny The Elder in order to help him escape the increasing danger. He had then decided whether he and his friends had the choice of staying inside and having the roof fall on their heads because of the buildup of pumice, or to go outside and risk being hit by falling pumice and ash. He died after going outside.
