Police Tribunal (Belgium)

The Police Tribunal (Dutch: Politierechtbank, French: Tribunal de police, German: Polizeigericht) in Belgium is a court which deals with minor offences and infractions, as well as traffic offences and deaths and injuries arising from traffic accidents. In civil cases, it has jurisdiction with regard to claims for compensation related to traffic accidents, irrespective of the amount of the compensation. Decisions of the Police Tribunal can be appealed against to the Court of First Instance. The Police Tribunal also has appellate jurisdiction with regard to the Municipal Administrative Sanctions that municipalities can use to punish certain minor offences since 2005.[1][2]
