Polda is a 1998 Czech adventure video game developed by Sleep Team.

Sequels

Polda spawned five sequels between 1999–2014, developed by ZIMA software.[1]

Polda 2

In 2010 the game was re-released for the iOS mobile platforms and later on Android.[2] After the original production of Polda 2 fell through, the license remained in the hands of Martin Zima, and following unsuccessful legal action, Sleep Team lost any percentage of the sale of future Polda games.[3]

Polda 3

Polda 3 was originally intended to be the final Polda game, finishing the trilogy.[4] According to Bonusweb, the developers deceived the entire gaming community by publicly announcing that the series was over while privately working on a fourth title.[5]

Polda 4

Polda 4 was released in 2002, departing from the previous artistic style by incorporating a hybrid 2D / 3D design.[6]

Polda 5

Polda 5 was released in 2005.

Polda 6

Polda 6 was released in 2014.

The release date for Polda 7 is currently unknown.

Critical reception

The first game in the series was a huge success and became a standard of Czech games.[2]

Bonusweb.cz rated the first six games in the series at 91%,[7] 71%,[8] 72%,[9] 77%,[10] 60%,[11] and 60%[12] respectively.

Seven months after Polda's release, the game continued to sell successfully and hold its place in the top ten best-selling games in the Czech Republic.[13]
