Pinocchio's Pizza & Subs, known locally as Noch's,[3] is a famous Sicilian pizzeria in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is among the older establishments still in existence in Harvard Square and a popular restaurant among Harvard students.

History

Pinocchio's was founded in 1966 and moved to its current location on Winthrop Street in 1983.[4] The walls of the restaurant include pictures of famous or frequent diners, including Mark Zuckerberg[5][6] and members of the 1989 National Champion Harvard men's hockey team.

Popularity

Starting in the 1970s and continuing through the '80s, '90s, and early 2000s, Harvard Square experienced significant gentrification.[7][8] Although a number of other long-standing and iconic restaurants, including Tommy's Lunch[9], Joe's Pizza,[10] and The Tasty closed during that time, Pinocchio's remains in business as a popular lunch, dinner, and late-night[11][12] option near the Harvard College campus.[13]

As a function of its status as a popular eatery for Harvard students, it is frequently mentioned in media, television, and film[14][15] and is a regular stomping ground for celebrities visiting Harvard Square.[16][14][17]
