Phillip Chiyangwa was born on the 3rd of February 1959 in Chegutu, to Divaris Makaharis and Marita Mandivenga. He was born in a family of 14. An entrepreneur, Mr Phillip Chiyangwa lays claim to be founder and owner of several businesses including a company listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange. Phillip attended Chegutu Primary school and completed his higher education at St. Francis Secondary school. He claims to have obtained various professional qualifications from various institutions in Zimbabwe and worldwide.

Professional life

Phillip left the employee’s world to begin the building of his business empire in 1983. Phillip claims to own the largest property company in Zimbabwe, Pinnacle Property Holdings (*citation required). In Mashonaland West Province, Phillip claims to have created employment empowered the community. (*citation required) Phillip also claims to support the tourism industry in the country through his involvement with Glory Car Hire, Travel & tours. As Chairman of this company Phillip claims to set high standards. He claims to have won numerous awards (*Which ones? In what years? Awarded by whom and for what?) on the local and international fora. In addition Phillip claims to own six shopping malls, each with five star hotels. He won the Best Hotel Investor in Africa Award (2009 /2010), as adjudged by the AI (Africa Investor), a Pan African Institution. He is the 2010 / 2011 ZTA (Zimbabwe Tourism Authority) Tourism Personality of the year.( In 2011 he was awarded the Lifetime Award - Business Legend at the Victors Lifetime Achievement awards. In 2013, lifetime BEFFTA award for the participation and promotion of entertainment (arts and culture). He claims to have hosted the legendary King of Pop, Michael Jackson in 2008 and the promotion of other prominent artists like Sean Paul, Akon etc. In 2014 he was awarded a Life Time Achievement Award as the "All Time Arts and Cultural Promoter", for his efforts in promoting boxing, wrestling and music. He is the Executive Chairman of Native Investments Africa Group (NIAG), Phillip Chiyangwa, is called “Mkoma Fidza” by his followers.

Political life

Phillip Chiyangwa claims to have become politically oriented at an early age. He says that he grew up witnessing his father, Divaris Makaharis (whom he claims was a chief from Zvimba).

Wealth, ethics, management failures & corruption allegations

Philip Chiyangwa alleges he owns assets worth $600 million USD (£460 million).

This wealth is alleged to be in property, stock markets and "multiple businesses".

However it has been reported that Phillip Chiyangwa is the nephew of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and used this position to access numerous opportunities and wealth

Chiyangwa leveraged this influence to become ZIFA President Although Chiyangwa maintains visibility over social media, Zimbabwe was banned from the World Cup over ZIFA’s failure to honour payments to coaching staff

Zimbabwe has also since failed to qualify for any major international competitions under Chinyangwa’s tenure . Board members of ZIFA resigned en masse alleging Chiyangwa’s “capture” of the organisation and poor and non-productive management style Zimbabwe currently ranks 117th out of 119 nations in the FIFA rankings

Chiyangwa left ZIFA in this crisis, somehow securing position as regional president of COSAFA with no recovery plan for Zimbabwe football

Chiyangwa has been implicated in making false representations of his status in FIFA and embezzlement of funds up to $2 million

Chiyangwa claims to have secured the role of campaign manager of the Madagascan football chief, Ahmad Ahmad in Ahmad’s campaign for CAF presidency against disgraced Issa Hayatou, who faced allegations of major fraud and corruption, and was eventually voted out Chiyangwa announced to the press that he was instrumental in this effort and is FIFA’s Hatchet Man

Chiyangwa has been formally accused of corruption, fraud and embezzlement by ZIFA with a legal claim filed citing that he stripped the organisation of considerable assets and diverted these funds for his own personal use and gain

Philanthropy

Phillip Chiyangwa founded the Phillip Chiyangwa Foundation which he claims provides education scholarships countrywide.
