Perendi (deity)

Perendi (Albanian: Perëndi) is the Albanian word for God and the sky. Perendi was an Illyrian thunder god, whose name was retained as the Name of God after the spread of Christianity.

Etymology

Perendi is an Indo-European thunder god name, akin to Sanskrit Parjanya, Lithuanian Perkūnas, Gaulish Cernunnos. In Albanian mythology, he is the consort of Prende, comparable to Frigg, Odin's wife.[1]
