Pender High School

Pender High School is located in Burgaw, North Carolina on Highway 53, and about 25 miles from Wilmington, North Carolina. It was established in 1975. Pender High is a 1A school with about 650 enrolled students and 56 teachers. The school's mascot the Patriots. It is in the Pender County Schools district. The principal is Chris Madden, and the assistant principals consist of Fallon Fuller and Shanika Mack. Athletics offered at the school include: Women's Soccer, Basketball, Softball, Volleyball, Golf, Track, Cross Country, Tennis; Men's Soccer, Basketball, Tennis, Baseball, Track, Golf, Track, and Wrestling.

Pender High School also has one of the best JROTC programs in North Carolina. They are commanded by Sergeant Major Price and Colonel Themes. They compete and win many, many competitions as well as participate in many community service projects.

Pender High School is a leader in STEAM education and is the home of the county's FIRST robotics competition team PHEnix #6214 (Pender, Heide, and Early College naturally inclined to xience), the county's electric vehicle race car team and a video game design team. Pender High School also offers Science Olympiad, ROCAME (Region "O" Council for the Advancement of Minorities in Engineering), SEAperch, Chess Club, Beta Club, AP Academy, Juntos, Lamplighter, Key Club, Interact Club, and Chem-Tech-Athon.
