Patrick Deeley

Patrick Deeley, Irish poet, born 1953.

Patrick Deeley was born in Loughrea, County Galway. His poems have been widely published and anthologised in Ireland and abroad over the past thirty years, and translated into several languages. He is the recipient of a number of awards including The Dermot Healy Poetry Prize. His four works of fiction for younger readers include The Lost Orchard, winner of The Eilis Dillon Award in 2001. His memoir, 'The Hurley Maker's Son', was published to wide critical acclaim by Doubleday Ireland/Transworld in 2016. He worked formerly as a primary school principal in Dublin.
