Raghu (N. T. Rama Rao), an intelligent guy from rich family falls in love with Susheela (Anjali Devi), a beautiful girl with good nature. Susheela stays in her maternal uncle Paramdamaiah’s house. Paramdhamaiah’s wife Durgamma (Suryakantham) is a shrew who always lets Susheela down. To get rid of her problem, Susheela joins in a job. Narendra (Rajanala), an employer tries to molest her, but somehow she escapes and calls the police, Narendra escapes. Due to this, Susheela comes late, Durgamma blames her and chides her out of the house. Seeing Susheela homeless, Narendra chases her, Rao Bahadoor Prakasham (Gummadi) saves her and gives her shelter in his house. Police catch Narendra and he was jailed.

Everyone in the Prakasam house including his wife Parvathi (Kannamba) likes her, she is surprised to see Raghu as Prakasam’s son and fears about the marriage. Raghu convinces her and marries her in the temple, unknown to anyone. After the marriage, Raghu leaves for abroad for higher studies; at that time, Susheela becomes pregnant and everybody suspects her chastity. At the same time, Narendra, released from jail, takes advantage of the situation, showcases Susheela as his wife, Prakasham believes it and they send her away. She escapes from him. Meanwhile, Raghu returns from abroad and reveals the truth to his parents. At that time, Susheela gives birth to a baby boy. She leaves the baby in front of their common friend Venkat (Relangi) and Dr. Karuna’s (Girija) house, leaving a letter and tries to commit suicide; Shantamma, who runs an orphanage rescues her and gives her shelter. Narendra reaches there also, but Shantamma’s brother Ranga (Satyanarayana) protects her.

Time passes, Venkat and Karuna adopt the child and he grows up as Venu (Chalam) and becomes an advocate. Raghu is in search of Susheela for the past 25 years; finally, he finds her, explains everything to her and they are reunited. Unfortunately, Narendra attacks them, in the quarrel Ranga kills Narendra by throwing the knife from behind and the blame comes on Susheela. Venu prosecutes the case and Raghu defends her. Venu almost proves that Susheela is the culprit, at that he comes to know that she is her mother through Karuna, but he is helpless, Susheela joins father and son and prepares herself for punishment. At the last minute, Ranga accepts his crime and surrenders himself; Susheela is acquitted. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note.
