Parashar
Parashar one of the highest Brahmin gotra found in northern India. This community is found in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.The Parashars are descendants of the Vedic scholar Parashara who was grandson of Maharishi Vashishth and father of Vyas. Many people belonging to the gotra use the surname Parashar. Alternative spellings include Prashar, Parasar, Prasar, Parasara, Prasher and Parasher. Some of them also use the surnames Vashishth and Vyas.
