País Tropical

País Tropical (Tropical Country) is a song composed by Brazilian singer and composer Jorge Ben Jor. The song was originally recorded by singer Wilson Simonal on 22 July 1969; after being released the following month, the song became the biggest hit of the singer's career. In December of that year were released versions of the song by Gal Costa (on her 1969 album Gal) and by composer Jorge Ben Jor (also for his self-titled album Jorge Ben).

Over the years, the music would become more and more associated as a success of its author, Jorge Ben Jor, overshadowing the success of the first sung version by Simonal. Since 1969, the song has also been adapted by many composers and singers like Sergio Mendes, Maurício Manieri, Ivete Sangalo, Shakira and Claudia Leitte, but also Jorge Ben Jor himelf, on his album Tropical (in 1976).
