P. J. Hyett (born 1982/1983) is an American software developer and technology entrepreneur, and a co-founder of GitHub, a social network centered around software development, which he created with Tom Preston-Werner and Chris Wanstrath in 2008.[1]

Early life

Hyett grew up in Naperville, Illinois.[2] He earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from North Central College.[2]

Career

After graduation, Hyett moved to San Francisco.[2] He was a senior software engineer at CNET Networks, and then a partner at Err Free, before co-founding GitHub in 2008.[2]

Following the acquisition of GitHub by Microsoft in June 2018, Hyett's stake in the company had an estimated value of "close to $1 billion".[3]

Personal life

Hyett is married, and they live in San Francisco.[4][2]
