Oughterard GAA (Irish: Cumann Peile Seamus O'Maille Uachtar Árd) is a Gaelic Football club based in Oughterard, County Galway, Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. Oughterard had a Hurling team in the 1920s and there was a brief period of underage hurling from 2012 to around 2015. It is primarily and always has been a Gaelic Football club and teams compete from the groups of under sevens to Juniors. Oughterard's local rivals are Killanin GAA and Moycullen GAA.

The club facilities are situated in Corribdale which is on the Pier Road in the town of Oughterard and it includes two pitches, a full-size walled pitch, a training pitch, a 600 capacity covered stand, a small terrace in the car park to the right of the stand, changing rooms and a small meeting room with kitchen facilities. There is also a large car park.

Oughterard are in the West Board section of the Galway League and Championships, and takes part in all under-age and junior competitions in the county. Oughterard do not have a Senior team.

1908 Foundation

Oughterard GAA was founded in 1908 by a group of local men with an interest in the sport. Gaelic Football was brought to the town by a man called Mahony from County Tipperary. There was a team from Glann that they competed against in 1917. This match was played by the Junior team. Oughterard were leading when the match was stopped for an unknown reason.

Junior County Champions 1919

The 1919 Junior County Championship was the first title won by Oughterard. The team was captained by John Joe D'Arcy from Maghera Mór. Seamus O'Maille (who the club is named after) was in this team. He played on the team until he was executed in 1923 during the Irish Civil War. He fought on the Anti-Treaty side and was executed by the Free State Army.

Senior County Champions 1938

The Galway Senior Football Championship title of 1938 was the first and only senior county title for the club.The club no longer has a senior team. The 1938 team beat Ballinasloe (East Galway). The Captain of the Oughterard team was Pat Gibbons.

The Crest

The Cumann Peile Seamus O'Maille Uachtar Árd crest was designed by John Gibbons. The crest consists of the Bridge over the Owenriff river with the Catholic church behind it, a portrait of Seamus O'Maille and a salmon representing the Lough Corrib. The colours Green and White are also in the crest, these are the colours of the club. The crest won an award in the National Féile in 2004. Celebrity Bainisteoir 2011

Oughterard's Intermediate team took part in RTE's Celebrity Bainisteoir in 2011. Oughterard played St Patrick's GAA (Donabate), County Dublin at home in Corribdale and won. They then played Lissan GAC, Derry GAA in the Semi-final at home and won again. In the final they took on Killeshin GAA, County Laois and at full time it was 0-12 to 0-12. Extra time was played and Killeshin came out on top with a score of 0-18 to 0-15.
