Orellia is a genus of tephritid or fruit flies in the family Tephritidae.[1][2][3]

Orellia ruficauda feeds on creeping thistle and has been reported to be the most effective biological control agent for that plant.[4] Its larvae parasitize the seed heads, feeding solely upon fertile seed heads.[5]
