Olympos Mons was a Finnish power metal band, formed in 2002 by guitarist Jari Sundström and singer Ian E. Highhill.

History

The two original members' passion for symphonic metal led them to founding an own band, enabling them to develop their musical creativity entirely. Both musicians had played in various bands prior to forming Olympos Mons, which provided the necessary experience. Their first demo recording Seven Seas was published in August 2002 and showed quite clearly the musical path the band was moving on. A mixture of guitars, bagpipes and harps forms the basis of many of their songs. The demo attracted many labels and the band was looking for members to complete the line-up. Drummer Mikko Sepponen and session keyboardist Vili Ollila joined the band.

In autumn 2004, the band's debut album Conquistador was released through Limb Music Productions. The album was received positively by most critics.

In December 2004, bass player Krister Lundell joined Olympos Mons, completing the line-up, which had been missing a bass player.

In July 2007, the band's second album Medievil was released. Due to musical differences, Olympos Mons signed a contract with the label Scarlet Records.
