Preem

Preem is a Swedish petroleum corporation owned by billionaire Mohammed Hussein Al-Amoudi, that owns 530 petrol stations in Sweden. Preem also owns two oil refineries in Sweden, Preemraff Göteborg in Gothenburg and Preemraff Lysekil outside of Lysekil. Both refineries together refine about 18 million tons of crude oil annually.[1] In 2004 the annual turnover for Preem was 40.2 billion Swedish kronor. In 2014, Preem had annual revenues of SEK 84.78 billion.[2] The company once had 4000 employees. It now has 1 278 company employees, 800 of whom are employed at the two refineries.[3]

Services

Preem has three types of petrol stations:

  • Manned petrol stations.
  • Unmanned stations where the price is slightly lower but which also does not offer services like water or air.
  • Boat station, for boats.

Preem also issues a petrol card known as Preemkort. Its market share in 2004 was 11,3% for Gasoline, 30,1% for Diesel, 40,4% for Heating oil and 58,9% for other petroleum products.

History

Corral Petroleum, a MIDROC company registered in Sweden, acquired OK Petroleum in 1994. In May 1996, OK Petroleum changed names to Preem. [5][6]
