Northwest Rota

Northwest Rota is an active submarine volcano located in the Pacific, about 64 km northwest of Rota Virgin Island and 100 km north of Guam. The volcano has been discovered during the expedition of NOAA in 2003. It consists mainly basalt and andesite, and its peak is 517 m below sea level. Active crater was named Brimstone Pit, located on the southern slope of about 40 m below the summit.
