Nnegest Likké is an internationally based, Award Winning film director, screenwriter and producer.

Biography

Nnegest is a multi award-winning filmmaker who makes socially and culturally impactful, commercial films. She grew up in San Francisco and Oakland, CA and is the daughter of famous Ethiopian revolutionary Dr. Senay Likké. She considers herself tri-cultural being of African-American, Ethiopian and Nigerian heritage. Nnegest earned her B.A. in Mass Communications from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2015 she helmed the film "Ben & Ara", which won multiple awards and an African Academy Award for BEST DIASPORA FILM. In 2017, she wrote, directed and produced the multi festival-award-winning "Everything But A Man" starring Monica Calhoun "The Best Man", "The Best Man Holiday" and Haitian actor Jimmy Jean-Louis, "Claws", "Heroes". Her début film was Fox Searchlight's cult classic comedy Phat Girlz which was produced by her career mentor, Robert Newmyer of "Training Day" and "Sex, Lies and Videotape" fame. Nnegest is a member of several organizations including Directors Guild Of America, Writers Guild Of America, Film Fatales, Women in Film and Television International, African Artists' Association and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
