Shariq Nisar

Shariq Nisar is an Indian finance professional, academic and activist.He received PhD in Economics from Aligarh Muslim University, one of the oldest universities in India .[1] He co-founded TASIS ( Taqwaa Advisory and Shariah Investment Solutions), a sharia advisory institution, related to finance, based in Mumbai, that screens stocks before inclusion in "TASIS Shariah 50" an index of sharia compliant stocks launched by the Bombay Stock Exchange,[2] from 2008 to 2015 he was director of research and operations there.[3][4] During 2013 and 2014 he was Senior Visiting Fellow at Harvard Law School.[5][6] From November, 2015, he is a non-executive independent director at Octaware Technologies, India's first sharia compliant publicly listed company.[7] Dr Nisar has also authored various books in the area of Islamic Finance with International as well as Indian perspectives.
