The Discovery High School of Newton-Conover was created through a partnership grant with the North Carolina New Schools Project, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Newton-Conover City Schools and is one of the two high schools in the district. Founded in 2005 as one of the first grant recipients, The Newton School is a 'redesign high school' following North Carolina New Schools Project guidelines. The school has 247 students on roll in grades 9 through 12. The students are able to pursue Advanced Placement courses and take the exams. [1][2]
