Nazmul Hassan Papon (born 31 May 1961) is the president of Bangladesh Cricket Board and Member of Parliament. He was born in a political family. He is the son of late politician of Awami League, Ivy Rahman and ex-president of Bangladesh, Zillur Rahman.[1]

Personal life

Papon was born on May 31, 1961. He has two sisters Tania Bukth and Tonyma Rahman. His father was the president of Bangladesh Zillur Rahman.[2][3] He completed his MBA from Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka.[1]

Career

He was elected as the president of Bangladesh Cricket Board in October 2012. He was preceded by AHM Mustafa Kamal who was selected the Vice-President of ICC. He was elected unanimously He is the first elected president of the board with his predecessors being appointed by the Bangladesh Government.[4] In the election, Papon competed with Saber Hasan Chowdhury.[5] He criticized Shakib Al Hasan and suspended him over discipline issues.[6] He is a member of parliament from Bangladesh Awami League.[7] He is the managing director of Beximco Pharmaceutical Limited and Shinepukur Ceramics Limited and a director of Beximco Group. He was the President of Abahani club for almost a decade.[1] He headed a subcommittee in the Parliament formed to investigate the manufacturing practices of pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh.[8]
